How to use your Burton Bikes bearing tool

Bottom Bracket Installation

If your frame has no bottom bracket installed, you can choose whether to install both new bearings simultaneously, or one at a time, depending on your manufacturers' recommendations or personal preference. Our advice is to install them individually, and all our BB tools are cleverly designed to allow you to do this.

For Direct Fit bottom brackets, the tool has an extra lip on one press plate; this makes it sit perfectly inside the empty BB shell whilst you press in the first bearing on the opposite side. The second bearing is installed separately.

The Cup Fit bottom bracket tool has a stepped recess on the back of one press plate, this fits into the empty BB shell whilst you press in the first cup on the opposite side. The second cup is installed separately.

Bicycle Wheel Hub Bearing Installation

The Burton Bikes wheel bearing installation kit has been designed for a wide range of bicycle wheels, specifically those which require the bearings to be installed before the axles. The tool comes with all the press plate options you need to install bearings in your front and rear hubs, and the freehub body.

608 Wheel Bearing Installation

Installation of 608 bearings in alloy core stunt scooter wheels is very easy with the Burton Bikes tool, it has an extra lip on one press plate; this makes it sit perfectly inside the empty wheel whilst you press in the first bearing on the opposite side. The second bearing is installed separately.

Installation of 608 bearings in longboard wheels is even easier than a stunt scooter wheel, because they are usually plastic.  The longboard tool is used without any additional tools, you may need to use one or both of the plastic spacers if you have deep wheels.  Make sure that the press plates are the correct way around; they both have a subtle recess on one side only, this side should face towards the bearing to ensure you are only pressing against the outer bearing race.
