Press fit bottom bracket standards can be confusing so please contact us if you are unsure which tool you need. It will be helpful to know your crank axle diameter (usually 24mm, 29mm or 30mm) and your frame's bottom bracket shell diameter (usually 37mm, 41mm, 42mm or 46mm). Alternatively you may have markings on your frame, cranks or BB that determine what type of BB you have. It is usually not enough to quote the make and model of the bike.
There are many converters available too, for example reducer bottom brackets to convert a BB30 frame down to a 24mm crank. If you are installing such a converter, please contact us to ensure you buy the correct tool.
There are two basic types of press fit bottom bracket. Direct Fit means the bearing cartridges are pressed directly into the frame. Our Direct Fit tools are designed to ensure they only press against the outer race of the bearing cartridge.
The other type is Cup Fit, which typically has the bearing cartridges permanently housed in plastic or aluminium cups, meaning the cups are pressed into the frame. Our Cup Fit tools are designed so they only press against the outer lip of the cup.
